Introduction to Scripting your Web GIS

The ArcGIS API for Python allows users to automate their workflows and perform repetitive tasks programmatically via Python scripts. Starting with an introduction of the API, who it’s for, and what it can do, the session will walk through the process of accessing the API through Conda and writing scripts using Jupyter Notebooks. A brief tour of functionality will be followed by a hands-on activity demonstrating some of the powerful capabilities of the API, including using the Map widget to visualize GIS content as well as bringing in other data services/tools using the API. Attendees should have access to a tablet/laptop with a modern web browser. Attendees should have the ArcGIS API for Python installed – https://developers.arcgis.com/python/guide/install-and-set-up
