LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA Cancer Survivor Program
Ms. Jacobs is the Harrisburg Area YMCA Association Program Manager for the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA Cancer Survivor Program, where she coordinates the program within the at the East Shore YMCA, Northern Dauphin County YMCA, and the West Shore YMCA branches. The Harrisburg Area YMCA Center for Healthy Living is also responsible for taking the LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA Cancer Survivor Program throughout the state to other YMCA Associations in Pennsylvania.

Palliative Oncology Standards: How to Measure Up
Dr. Kristina Braine Newport is the Director of Palliative Care at Penn State Health and Assistant Professor in the Penn State College of Medicine. She cares for patients in the hospital and outpatient clinic. Her research and education efforts focus on care for patients with cancer. She is also the Chair the Pennsylvania Task Force promoting Palliative Oncology, in conjunction with the American Cancer Society. Dr. Newport has been recognized by both the American Academy of Hospice & Palliative Medicine and the Pennsylvania Medical Society as one of 40 Inspiring Leaders Under 40.

Gary L. Zimmerman, Cancer Survivor
A Survivor’s Lessons Learned – Some the Hard Way
Mr. Gary Zimmerman is a three-time cancer survivor (non-Hodgkins lymphoma, bladder, & ureter) now living with metastatic urothelial cancer. From his multiple experiences, he has learned very practical approaches to make life easier. In addition, he successfully advocated for the use of BCG (Bacillus Calmette-Guerin), an anticancer biologic response modifier, in the treatment of his bladder cancer, including maintenance treatments.
