GIS in the Wild

For over 20 years, the Pennsylvania Game Commission has used geospatial technologies to help manage and protect wildlife and their habitats while promoting hunting and trapping for current and future generations. GIS has become mission critical to everyday operations within the last five years, and over 300 users throughout the agency now employ the technology. James Whitacre, chief of the Game Commission’s GIS Services Division, will explain how an enterprise approach to GIS is transforming the Game Commission’s daily operations. He’ll also share the path that led him to GIS and the Game Commission and how the GIS Services Division is striving to be a leader in conservation and natural resource GIS.
